March 20th, 2026

Hermon Middle School Community,

Good luck to Olivia Bart as she competes in the State Spelling Bee tomorrow—we are all cheering her on!

A big congratulations to our 8th graders on their exciting win over staff at last night’s 8th Grade Fundraising Basketball Game. It was a great evening of school spirit, teamwork, and community support.

As we move through mid‑March, it’s a wonderful time to revisit our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. Thank you for continuing to reinforce these expectations at home as we work together to support our students’ growth.

A reminder to 8th grade families that Step Up Day and Step Up Night are scheduled for March 24th. A more detailed email with schedules and important information was sent earlier this week. Please reach out if you have any questions—we’re looking forward to supporting students and families as they begin preparing for the transition to high school.

Book Title: Front Desk by Kelly Yang

Why We Recommend It:

Front Desk follows Mia Tang, a determined and resourceful fifth‑grader who helps manage the front desk of the motel her parents operate. The story blends humor, heart, and real‑world challenges as Mia learns to speak up, advocate for others, and navigate new experiences. Its themes of resilience, empathy, and courage make it a powerful and relatable read for middle school students.
