Academic Showcase:

On Thursday, March 4th from 4:30–5:30 PM, students and parents in grades 5–7 are invited to visit Hermon Middle School to preview student work and participate in academic discussions about the learning completed during the 2025–2026 school year. These gatherings will be student‑led, giving each learner the opportunity to share and reflect on their individual progress and accomplishments.

Invention Convention:

Also on Thursday, March 4th from 6:00–7:00 PM, our 8th‑grade students will present their projects for the Invention Convention to a panel of judges. This panel includes high school students, staff members, and community volunteers. Parents are welcome to attend and are asked to remain in the bleachers during the judging process. At the conclusion of the event, up to ten projects will be selected to advance to the state round

Book Recommendation:

As part of our commitment to literacy and our engagement with the Read to ME initiative, we want to share a book recommendation that resonates with the middle school experience.

Book Title: Allergic by Megan Wagner Lloyd & Michelle Mee Nutter

Why We Recommend It:

Allergic is a graphic novel that follows Maggie, a middle‑school student who discovers she’s allergic to every animal she tries to adopt. The story explores themes of growing up, friendships, family change, and self‑advocacy in a way that is relatable and engaging for middle school readers. Its visual storytelling appeals to both enthusiastic and reluctant readers, and the novel’s heartfelt moments and humor make it an excellent choice for supporting literacy and meaningful discussions.
