Hawk Mask

Dear Hawks,

Last evening, the school committee approved the reopening concept plan for the Hermon Schools.

This is a work in progress and subject to change; it represents our direction for the start of the school year.  The plan contains guidelines and requirements from the Maine Department of Education and the CDC.  It represents input from the Maine School Management Association,  Maine Principals Association, Maine Education Association, Parent and Staff Surveys, Transportation, Nursing Association, and the PENQUIS Superintendent group.

Due to our enrollment, we will be operating in a Hybrid (every-other-day) model to begin the year.  The details are in the plan found below.

Over the next several days and into next week, school leaders will be reaching out to families to determine your intentions and provide specific details including schedule, student cohort, transportation, and more.  Please direct your questions to your child's school as needed.

I am grateful for our district and school level planning teams for tackling what is one of the greatest challenges of our time.  We want to be back full-time and are hopeful that this plan will be the beginning stages of eventually getting us back to our normal school routine.

We are in the process of planning with the recreation department and will send updates as that component comes together.

Please review the slideshow presented at last evening's meeting HERE.

The plan itself can be found HERE

Thank you for your patience and participation as we continue to get closer to the opening of school.

We've got this,

Jim Chasse, Superintendent of Schools
